A System in Continuous Evolution - Physical, Chemical, Biological Processes on Different Temporal and Spatial Scales, and Interactions with Human Activities
The "Environment" research area focuses on the study of the complex interactions among Geological processes, Climatic variability, and the Natural and Anthropic Environment. Research activities range from understanding the geological/environmental phenomena that shape the landscape and ecosystems, to the sustainable management of the environment. Environmental degradation processes are analysed, and strategies and new technologies for environmental remediation and requalification are developed.
The ultimate goal is to provide the scientific basis for environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development, integrating geological data with multidisciplinary approaches to address global environmental challenges.
