IGAG Cagliari Department Rock Mechanics Lab is located at the D building of the Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture Department (DICAAR) of the University of Cagliari. The Lab, which is not for exclusive CNR use due to the presence of other University equipment, includes two Metro-Com presses of 2000 and 200 kN (200 and 20 tons).

Both presses are driven by the same hydrodynamic unit and they can be used one for time through a three way valve. The presses provides the maximum compressive stress on samples of rocks and concrete. Stress state is measured by an analogic device providing hydraulic pressure and the maximum stress reached during each single test.
