Ostra-LAB
Ostra-Lab specializes in processing sediment samples for the extraction of calcareous microfossils, in particular ostracods (crustaceans). Standard techniques for micropaleontology are used for the treatment of the sediment samples (wet laboratory and fume hoods for sample washing and eventual acid digestion) and for biological samples (fixing in ethanol). The observation and extraction of ostracods from sediment is done under a stereo microscope at small magnifications (x20 to x500) and mainly on dry sediment.
The laboratory collaborates with industries and a number of universities and research centers worldwide.
