Research Field

Planetary geochemistry and experimental petrology

I investigate the formation and differentiation of the Earth and other planetary objects. I apply high-temperature and/or high-pressure experiments to simulate the conditions that occurred during planet formation. I also perform chemical analysis of experiment samples, terrestrial rocks and meteorites, including element concentrations and isotopic ratios. With these results, I investigate a wide range of processes, from condensation/evaporation in the proto-planetary disk of the Solar System, via planetary growth and core formation, to mantle convection and subduction zone processes.
